The Bridge Project
The
Bridge Project
Update
from Project Director.
We have finally made it, the official opening of Bradbury
Courtyard!
The Bridge Project Sudbury can look back with
pride on two years of continual hard work and development. We have never been
an organisation that stands still; the progress of students, the innovative
work carried out in within each department of the project and our new venture
all testify to this. The refurbishment of the courtyard buildings saw numerous
changes to the physical location of some training
areas, all students and staff are to be commended for their patience during
those times. Throughout all this, the focus of project clearly remains on
enabling each student to develop to his or her full potential.
The Bridge Project has increased its reach, output
and profile, and strengthened its staff team to meet the growing challenge and
changing demands placed upon the services. Being recognised as a new accredited
training
provider by Suffolk Learning Skills Council and positive inspection by OSFTED
demonstrates the continual quality and professionalism of our small independent
charity.
The professional responsibilities of a voluntary
sector company are now multi-tasked and multi-faceted, with all the demands of
running a business, personnel and finance, planning, health and safety and so
on, as well as maintaining a service. Despite these complexities, this
organisation remains prominent in developing innovative solutions to issues
surrounding economic exclusion of disadvantaged groups, and seeking their empowerment
through achievement of recognised vocational qualifications and continuing
education.

The Bridge Project is genuinely one of
Sudburys hidden treasures. Situated along the historic Gainsborough Street,
you have probably walked or driven past it on numerous occasions without really
paying too much attention. Once you set foot in the door you will begin to
appreciate the vibrant, friendly and magical environment that is The Bridge
Project. Set up ten years ago to assist disadvantaged adults within the
community, the project continues to go from strength to strength. The
cornerstone of the organisation is unquestionably The Courtyard Cafe. With the
best cook and hospitality manager in Sudbury, and fully supported by local
restaurateur Gerry Ford, the cafe has recently launched an exciting updated
menu. All food is freshly prepared and cooked in the Courtyard Cafe kitchen. To
meet local demand we have also introduced a children's menu, baby changing
facilities, highchairs and a children's activity area. There is also an
outside Courtyard seating area during the summer. The cafe is open from Tuesday
until Saturday. Paint Your Own Ceramics has proven very popular and there is a
wide range of ceramic items to paint during the school holidays. External
catering, fully equipped conference facilities, room bookings, online multimedia
IT facilities and resources are all available to hire upon request. The biggest
problem The Bridge Project faces is the ongoing battle to secure funding and all
donations and offers of voluntary assistance are gratefully received.
